Vendors for Computer Vision Algorithms and Systems
Vendors, as opposed to researchers,
usually want to sell a result rather than enable you to
get the result for free. For some tasks, code may be available
(see the Source Code Listing)
that allow you to skip the vendor and do it yourself.
If you are looking for a research system by name (e.g. AMBLER) try the
Computer Vision Systems Listing.
For most really
interesting tasks, neither an existing product nor free code exists
to solve your problem --
that is the point of research and development (either in a University or
by some future Vendor). But over time, what is available changes with
new products and code.
Those problems are covered more completely by papers
referenced in the
Computer Vision Bibliography.
Current research and applications are highlighted in various
Computer Vision and Image Processing conferences.
The application oriented workshops
often have sessions devoted to vendors and larger meetings may have
vendor demonstration sessions.
For some products, the list of vendors overlaps
research groups, sometimes they do not, but I usually list them as vendors
if there is a product involved.
These companies supply the results of research,
not necessarily the equipment you need to perform research (i.e. I do not
provide an extensive list for cameras and computers, though there are
some camera vendors listed).
Computer Vision resources include:
